Flipkens again too strong for Bertens

Kiki Bertens has lost for the second time in a month to Kirsten Flipkens. The Belgian won the second round match at the Libéma Open, 6-4 6-7(6) 6-1.

Two hours later Flipkens defeated eighth seed Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals, 6-4 6-4 and she will also play a doubles match together with….. Bertens.

It is not the first time that the unseeded Flipkens ahs made a good impression in Rosmalen. In 2013 she played in the final at the Autotron and reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon. To reach the final again she has to defeat Viktoria Kuzmova. The Slovakian was too strong for Antonia Lottner from Germany, 6-3 6-2.

Bertens performed better on the Brabant grass than last year, when she was defeated in the first round.
