Griekspoor doesn’t choke on McDonald

Tallon Griekspoor’s campaign at Libéma Open continues. On his way to the quarterfinals, the number one of the Netherlands floored Mackenzie McDonald in two sets: 6-3 7-6(5). The American beat Botic van de Zandschulp in his first match.

After his thriller against Miomir Kecmanovic in the opening round, Griekspoor was able to finish the job in straight sets this time, although the number six seed had to rectify a considerable deficit in the tiebreak of the second set.

To keep his title defence alive, Griekspoor will have to find a way past the winner of the duel between topper Karen Khachanov (ATP-22) and Australian Aleksandar Vukic.

Ugo Humbert won in a French duel from Arthur Fils. The crafty lefty, seeded third and making an impressive impact on the ATP Tour lately, was with 6-3 7-6(1) too big for his talented compatriot, who celebrated his 20th birthday on the day of the match.
