Osaka impresses on debut

Naomi Osaka immediately showed in her very first match on Dutch soil why she is a four-time Grand Slam winner. The Japanese world star convincingly handled fourth-seeded Elise Mertens: 6-2 6-4.
Osaka was particularly impressive on her own serve. The former world number one lost only three points on her first serve in the entire game. The player who was still on match point against Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros, cashed in all three break chances she got.
Osaka may face Suzan Lamens in the second round if the Dutch player wins against Bernarda Pera of the United States.
