Daniil Medvedev has not emerged from Roland Garros unscathed. The world number five has therefore had to withdraw from the field of participants.
‘I am obviously disappointed that I cannot be in action in ’s-Hertogenbosch this year. As I have often said in the past, Libéma Open is a great tournament and a good preparation for the grass season. Unfortunately, my body needs rest at the moment. I am doing everything I can to return to the tour.’
However, Medvedev, a finalist in 2022, has indicated he will be in next year’s event.
‘We are obviously sorry that Medvedev has to miss out this year. It is very good news that he has already agreed to come to Libéma Open next year,’ said tournament director Marcel Hunze.
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is also absent. Alex de Minaur, who played the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, slides through as top seed. Ugo Humbert, Tommy Paul, Karen Khachanov and Sebastian Korda are other big names on the playing list. The Dutch trio Tallon Griekspoor, Botic van de Zandschulp and Tim van Rijthoven will also be in action.
The women’s tournament welcomes Naomi Osaka, Jessica Pegula, Bianca Andreescu and two-time winner Ekaterina Alexandrova, among others. Dutch entries include Arantxa Rus and Suzan Lamens.
