(2023) Success start for Griekspoor and Bublik

Crowd-pleasers Tallon Griekspoor and Alexander Bublik started well at Libéma Open. The home hero shook off the agile Mikael Ymer 6-2 3-6 6-3, while the showman from Kazakhstan peaked at the right moments against former finalist David Goffin: 7-5 7-5.

Griekspoor already won his first doubles match on Monday alongside Robin Haase and was able to build on that success a day later on centre court.

Bublik, who made his debut on the Brabant grass, has a tough challenge ahead of him. Indeed, in the second round, he faces none other than top Italian talent Jannik Sinner. The world number 9 had a bye in the first round and in turn cannot afford a slow start against the unpredictable Bublik.
