None other than Venus Williams has been added to the already great list of players at Libéma Open.
The American former number one and seven-time Grand Slam winner has never played in the Netherlands and will compete from 10-18 June at Autotron ‘s-Hertogenbosch with a wildcard.
Williams made her debut on the WTA Tour as a young teenager in 1994. Eight years later, she was the world number one. In her impressive career, she managed to record 49 tournament victories so far.
Williams reached the final at all Grand Slam tournaments at least once. At Wimbledon, she was the best five times. In New York, she grabbed the US Open title twice.
Alongside sister Serena, she won three gold medals at the Olympics and several Grand Slam titles. On the doubles rankings, she was also number one.
Williams joins fellow Grand Slam winners Victoria Azarenka and Bianca Andreescu in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.Belinda Bencic is the highest-seeded player ahead of Veronika Kudermetova. Elina Svitolina is also in the match with a wildcard. Ekaterina Alexandrova is the defending champion.
