The men’s and women’s field of participants is taking shape. Every week some familiar names are added.

The ATP 250 tournament can already count on the arrival of Botic van de Zandschulp, Tallon Griekspoor, Daniil Medvedev, Marin Cilic and titleholder Tim van Rijthoven. Another top10 player will be added later.

The WTA tournament can now also count on the arrival of Elise Mertens and Caty McNally. They join previously announced Grand Slam champion Bianca Andreescu. The Canadian made her comeback in Madrid last week after a foot injury.

The 27-year-old Mertens has appeared in ‘s-Hertogenbosch five times before. The quarterfinal in 2016 was the best singles result for the Hamont native. In the doubles, she grabbed the title together with Demi Schuurs in 2018.

‘It’s nice to be able to play in ‘s-Hertogenbosch again. The tournament is close to home and a lot of Belgian fans always come to cheer. For me, the perfect start to the grass season.’

In the singles, Mertens has been among the top 30 in the world for years and was once on the verge of the top 10 with place 12. In doubles, she was the global number one two years ago.

The young American McNally is coming to Libéma Open for the second time. The 21-year-old player from Cincinnati reached the quarterfinals last year. Ultimate tournament winner Ekaterina Alexandrova was too strong then.
