Libéma Open Stories #8: Kim Clijsters

Due to the Corona pandemic Libéma Open 2020 was postponed to 5-13 June 2021. This week, the week the tournament would have taken place at the beautiful grass courts of the Autotron ‘s-Hertogenbosch, we look back at some of the players’ greatest, funniest, most emotional and most successful moments during the tournament.

This time 2003 winner Kim Clijsters.

Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin were playing in the final in ’s-Hertogenbosch in 2003. Shortly before the Belgian top players also played in the final at Roland Garros. Henin won in Parais, but Clijsters took the title at the Brabant grass courts.

‘After the busy period in Paris it was good to play at the WTA tournament close to home. The family was able to come to watch me and it is also nice to sleep at home.’

The former world number one, who started her comeback this year, is looking back on this period in the video interview and she shares her goals for the future.
