Bertens reaches semi-final

Kiki Bertens has reached the semi-final at the Libéma Open for the second time in her career. The busy Friday started with the match against Arantxa Rus, which had to be postponed on Thursday due to the weather conditions. After winning that match former finalist Natalia Vikhlyantseva was waiting for her in the quarter-final. The Russian was defeated with 6-3 6-3.

Last year Bertens and Vikhlyantseva also stood opposite each other on the Brabant grass and  Holland’s number one also won that match although she needed a tie break in the third set.

To reach the final in Rosmalen Bertens has to defeat Elena Rybakina. The Kazakh qualifier defeated Kirsten Flipkens with 6-4 6-4. Flipkens was responsible for Bertens’ elimination in the second round last year.

Bertens played a third match on Friday. Together with Demi Schuurs she defeated the Spanish/Hungarian pair Georgina Garcia Perez/Fanny Stollar with 7-5 602 on court 3.
