Aleksandra ‘the mosquito’ will return in 2019 to the Libéma Open, where she won her first WTA title last year.

The skilful Serbian was looking ahead to her return in ‘s-Hertogenbosch during Roland Garros.
“It will be cool. It is the first time that I defend a WTA title at a tournament with multiple top players who are ranked higher than me,” said Krunic in Paris.

To say goodbye to the clay season is no problem for the 26 year old player. “I like to play in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and I love to play on grass, it is kind of a love affair and I will enjoy every minute in Rosmalen.”

Her memories of last year’s edition are, not surprisingly, multiple. “My semi-final match was really cool. CoCo Vandeweghe, who has a great service, was leading with one set and a break, but I managed to come back. I improved as the tournament progressed,” according to Krunic, who hasn’t forgotten about the warm welcome she received in the Netherlands. “I remember the big crowds, also during training. It is great to see that people are so appreciative about what you are doing and that they even come to watch the training.”
