Haase and Bertens to play on centre court on Tuesday

12/06/17, 15:13

The two best Dutch tennis players are scheduled on Tuesday’s centre court programme. Kiki Bertens as well as Robin Haase will be playing on the second day of the Ricoh Open.

The opening match at 11 am will be between Belgium’s Steve Darcis, fifth seed in Rosmalen, and Alexandr Dolgopolov. It’s the 28-year-old Ukrainian ball wizard’s first time on the Brabant grass courts.

Haase will play against Daniil Medvedev, but not before 12.30 pm. The Russian qualifier is a young player and is a member of the so-called NextGen of the ATP Tour and a dangerous opponent for Holland’s number one.

Bertens is third seed and will compete, not before 2.30 pm, against Andrea Petkovic. The German player has been around for a long time and played the final against Justine Henin in 2010. The only other meeting between Bertens and Petkovic was lost by the Wateringen resident so she will have to play as well as she can.

The fourth and last meeting on centre court will be between last year’s finalist Kristina Mladenovic and Risa Ozaki from Japan. The French player is in top form this season and is one of the favorites to win the Ricoh Open title.
