Winning debut for Querrey in Rosmalen

Sam Querrey (ATP-37) has won his debut match at the Ricoh Open. The fifth seed narrowly beat the German Benjamin Becker (ATP-116): 7-6(3), 7-6(5). There was no chance of a break of serve in the entire match.
The next opponent for the American emerge from the match between the Croatian Ivan Dodig (ATP-70) and Tatsuma Ito (ATP-105) from Japan.
There was more American success on the grass of Rosmalen on the first day. Wildcard player Stefan Kozlov (ATP-196), at only 18-years-old, beat his elder of two years, Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka (ATP-117) with 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
Kozlov will have to defeat his compatriot, fourth seeded Steve Johnson (ATP-39), to reach the quarter-finals.
The curtain dropped at Rosmalen for another Ameican player. Qualifier Ernesto Escobedo (ATP-273) could not cope with Aljaz Bedene (ATP-58) losing 7-6(5), 6-2 to the British player. Bedene will meet second seed Bernard Tomic (ATP-23) in the second round. The Australian had a bye for the first round.
