Tim van Rijthoven took a giant leap on the new ATP ranking. As a qualifier, the teenager from Brabant reached the semi final of the challenger tournament in Drummondville ($50.000) to climb no less than 181 places.
Van Rijthoven, who never managed to reach the top 500 before, takes 396th place in the world rankings. Jesse Huta Galung (+31) and Antal van der Duim (+71) did well too. Huta Galung is now the world’s number 363 and Van der Duim is ranked 353rd.
Holland’s top 3 lost some points. Robin Haase (ATP-59) and Thiemo de Bakker (ATP-105) dropped two places and Igor Sijsling went from 150th to 157th position.
Women
Cindy Burger from Volendam will be happy to see the WTA ranking. She jumped six places to 159th, her highest position ever. Over a week ago Burger reached the final of the $25,000 Curitiba tournament and these points have been of influence on her total.
Kiki Bertens has climbed two places and Holland’s number one is now the world’s number 108. Richel Hogenkamp moved up from 144th to 137th place.
