Mahut returns to defend title at Ricoh Open in Rosmalen

Nicolas Mahut (ATP-48) is the next player fans can look forward to seeing at the 2016 Ricoh Open in Rosmalen from 6 to 12 June. The Frenchman will certainly be intent on defending his title on the Brabant grass.

In 2013 Mahut won the first title of his career in Rosmalen by defeating Stan Wawrinka in the final. Two years later the 34-year-old service volley player repeated this achievement, at the expense of David Goffin.

Mahut, who often excels on Dutch soil (he also managed to reach the last four at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam this year), has won three tournaments in his career to date.

The man from Angers has been even more successful in the doubles. He has won 13 trophies, including the title at the USA Open and wins at the Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami this year. Additionally he reached a final at Roland Garros and the Australian Open.

The competitors field fot the combined ATP/WTA event in Rosmalen also includes, besides Mahut, Dutch number one Robin Haase, number 13 David Goffin from Belgium, beaten finalist in 2015 and top 10 player Belinda Bencic, former world number one Jelena Jankovic and Holland’s number one Kiki Bertens.
