Krunic reaches her first final on grass after exciting battle

Aleksandra Krunic has reached the final at the Libéma Open after a nail-biting duel. The seven seeded Serbian was too strong for two-time tournament winner CoCo Vandeweghe, 2-6 7-6(4) 7-6(1).

It was the second match that finished in a decisive tiebreak for Vandeweghe. The American survived no less than seven match points against her compatriot Alison Riske in the quarter-finals. Vandeweghe lost a match point against Krunic, on the service of her 25-year-old opponent.

Krunic used her first match point after 2,5 hours of playing and reached the second WTA final of her career. Last year she lost in the final on hard court in Guangzhou in China.
