Rus wins thriller from Russian on court 1

Arantxa Rus has concluded day one of the Libéma Open in an impressive way. The world’s number 100 survived several match points to finally win the thrilling match on court 1 against Ekaterina Alexandrova  6-7(5) 6-4 7-6(7).

The exciting duel between the left-handed Rus, quarter-finalist in 2017, and her 23-year-old opponent from Russia lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes.

The 27-year-old Dutch player will have another difficult match in the next round. No less than topseed CoCo Vandeweghe will be her next opponent. The two-time American title winner in Rosmalen defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus in two sets on Monday.
