Verdasco and Khachanov reach third round in Paris
30/05/18, 22:42Fernando Verdasco convincingly reached the third round at Roland Garros. The player from Madrid defeated Guido Andreozzi from Argentina with 6-3 6-2 6-2.
Verdasco needed exactly 100 points to decide the match of which 40 were winners. The Spaniard, who is seeded 30th, will meet Grigor Dimitrov to reach the quarter-finals. The fourth seed narrowly beat Jared Donaldson in a thrilling match. The American only gave up at 10-8 in the fifth set.
Karen Khachanov had an easier match against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. The 22-year-old Russian is the world’s number 38 and defeated 12-year-older opponent in four sets: 6-2 7-6(7) 6-7(5) 6-3.
Khachanov will meet 15th seed Lucas Pouille or the Brit Cameron Norrie in the third round.
