This year’s qualifications at the Ricoh Open again have a strong participation. No less than seven players out of the top 100 will try to secure a place in the main schedule.

Benjamin Becker (ATP-170) from Germany won the title in 2009 by defeating Raemon Sluiter in the final. The former number 35 often plays well on the Brabant grass, he played in the final in 2014 against Roberto Bautista Agut and he reached the semifinals in 2010.

Daniil Medvedev (ATP-65) is at the top of the list in the qualification tournament. The 21-year-old Russian belongs to the so-called NextGen, young players in the ATP Tour who are a promise for the future. Ernesto Escobedo (ATP-74) is also a member of this select group of players. The 20-year-old American is trained by Holland’s Peter Lucassen.

In addition to these young talents, experienced players like Vasek Pospisil (ATP-82), Mikhail Youzhny (ATP-84), Alexandr Dolgopolov (ATP-87) and Julien Benneteau (ATP-98) will compete in the qualifications. Another distinctive name is Evgeny Donskoy (ATP-99). The 27-year-old Russian is the only player to beat Roger Federer this year. This happened  at the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai at the end of February.

The start of the qualification tournament is on Saturday 10 June. Fourteen players will qualify directly and two players will receive a wildcard.

The main schedule of the Ricoh Open starts on Monday 12 June. The final will be held on Sunday 18 June at the Autotron.
