Jankovic ends series of defeats at Ricoh Open

Jelena Jankovic (WTA-24) did very well in the first round of the Ricoh Open. The second seed controlled the match against the Czech opponent Katerina Siniakova (WTA-102) to finish with 6-4, 6-2.

With this victory the former world number one ended her series of five continuous  defeats. The Serbian player did not win a single match during the clay season.

Jankovic reached the final on the Brabant grass in 2007 and last year made the semi-final. In this year’s edition of the Ricoh Open she will meet Evgeniya Rodina (WTA-120) in the second round.

The Russian played just a bit more decisive than her 17-year-old wildcard opponent Dalma Galfi (WTA-302) from Hungary, beating her 6-4, 6-4 in their first round encounter.
