Montgomery wins first WTA title

Sunday, 12:00

The title of the women’s tournament at Libéma Open 2026 goes to Robin Montgomery. The 21-year-old American was confronted with her opponent Barbora Krejcikova’s withdrawal due to illness on the morning of the final. Consequently, Montgomery claimed her first WTA title without playing the final.

The clash between the young qualifier from Washington D.C. and the Czech multiple Grand Slam champion unfortunately did not take place on centre court after all, but the fact remains that Montgomery concludes her successful week on Brabant grass with the premiere of her first final and victory at WTA level.

Montgomery is the third American player to win Libéma Open, following Alison Riske-Amritraj (2019) and Coco Vandeweghe (2014 and 2016). The latter was also a qualifier in 2014, just like Montgomery this year.

Due to a wrist surgery and corresponding nine-month absence, Montgomery’s ranking plummeted last year, and as world number 484 she is the lowest-ranked player ever in the final at Libéma Open. The left-hander had previously been in the top 100 and will rise considerably on the WTA rankings with this title under her belt.

Alternative Program
The champion makes herself available for a demonstration match in a sporting capacity, alongside former champions Sjeng Schalken and Tim van Rijthoven and former top doubles player Matwé Middelkoop. This will start at 12:00 on centre court.

The men’s final between top-ranked Alex de Minaur and breakthrough Polish player Kamil Majchrzak will start at 14:30.

Subsequently, at 13:30, the champion will be in the Fanzone for a signing session.
