Krejcikova Reaches Quarterfinals

With Barbora Krejcikova, a former Wimbledon champion has secured a place in the quarterfinals. The Czech, who triumphed in 2024 on the sacred London grass, defeated Belgian qualifier Hanne Vandewinkel by clear scores: 6-1, 6-4.

The eighth seed indicated earlier this week that she was ecstatic that the grass season had begun and showed immediate good form on her way to the last eight. In the quarterfinals, Krejcikova will meet Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse, who in turn had also taken down a Belgian victim in the person of Elise Mertens earlier that day.

Wildcard entrant Mia Pohankova made an impression this week as a 17-year-old talent, but could not get past the experienced Magda Linette in the last 16, who won 6-2, 6-2. Zeynep Sonmez is her opponent in the quarterfinals.

Ukrainian Daria Snigur also advanced to the quarterfinals. She overcame Panna Udvardy in three sets: 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Snigur is now preparing for a match with American Robin Montgomery, who fought her way deep into the main draw from the qualifying rounds.
