Minaur fights his way past Damm

Alex de Minaur capped off his return to the Autotron ‘s-Hertogenbosch with a victory. In the opening round, he defeated Martin Damm 7-6(8), 7-5.
The 2024 tournament winner was forced to withdraw last year due to injury. Despite a year of absence, he immediately picked up the winning thread on the Brabant grass. In the first round, the number two seed enjoyed a bye, while American Damm secured two wins in the qualifying tournament.
Who will be De Minaur’s opponent in the quarterfinals remains unknown. The match between French compatriots Ugo Humbert and Benjamin Bonzi was postponed to Thursday due to weather conditions.
The first-round match between Marton Fucsovics and Hubert Hurkacz resulted in a win for Fucsovics. The Hungarian was just slightly stronger than the Polish serve weapon in a thriller: 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4). There was also Polish success for Kamil Majchrzak, who defeated Otto Virtanen 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4).
