Nicolas Mahut (ATP-49) has reached the second round without any problems. The two-times tournament winner (2013 and 2015) and the new world number one doubles player defeated Lukas Lacko (ATP-119): 6-1, 6-4.
In addition to his two titles at the Autotron (both competing as a qualifier), Mahut won the 2013 ATP grass court tournament of Newport, Rhode Island. The Frenchman has not yet reached a final on other surfaces.
The eighth seed will have to beat compatriot Paul Henri Mathieu (ATP-60) to reach the quarter-final. The latter defeated the American Rajeev Ram (ATP-72) with 6-4, 6-4.
