The Ricoh Open in Rosmalen starts Monday with five Dutch players in the main tournament draw for men’s and women’s singles. Robin Haase and Igor Sijsling will play in the men’s event, and Kiki Bertens, Richel Hogenkamp and Indy de Vroome are on the players’ list for the WTA tournament.
At the draw on Saturday Haase was linked to seventh seeded Gilles Muller (ATP-42). The Luxemburger is regarded as a good grass court player and likes to play service volley.
Sijsling, who entered with a wildcard, will compete against Spain’s Inigo Cervantes (ATP-69) and will, if he wins, meet third placed Ivo Karlovic (ATP-28), who starts the tournament with a bye.
Bertens
Kiki is still on the playing list. The semi-finalist at Roland Garros starts in a difficult part of the draw. If her calf problems don’t stop her from playing she will open against Croatian Marjana Lucic Baroni (WTA-52).
She can expect a match against former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard in the second round. The Canadian, who is participating for the third time on the Brabant grass court, starts her campaign as seventh seed.
Bertens’ half of the draw includes first seed Belinda Bencic. Last year’s runner-up will start the competition against Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA-73).
Both Richel Hogenkamp and Indy de Vroome received a wildcard from tournament director Marcel Hunze. Hogenkamp will play against a qualifier in the first round De Vroome will meet the 2014 winner Coco Vandeweghe (WTA-43) who is sixth seed.
