(2023) Alexandrova back on title race

Ekaterina Alexandrova has the taste for it again this year. The titleholder is in the quarterfinals after winning over Australia’s Kimberly Birrell: 6-4 7-6(3).

The fourth seed will take on one of the tournament surprises in the last eight: Emina Bektas. The American came smoothly through the qualifiers and beat lucky loser and compatriot Sachia Vickery at the last 16: 6-4 6-4.

Alexandrova is also still active in the doubles, in which she also advanced to the quarterfinals with Zhaoxuan Yang.
