Resurgent Medvedev Major Title Contender at Libéma Open

Wednesday, 13:00

Daniil Medvedev will set his sights on the 2026 Libéma Open title from June 6-14. The 23-time ATP Tour tournament winner will be appearing at the Autotron ‘s-Hertogenbosch for the seventh time.

The 30-year-old Medvedev is the man in form. On the ATP Tour, he leads the standings with 18 wins so far this season.

Last week, he became the only player in 2026 to defeat Carlos Alcaraz. He did so in the semifinals of the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, where he reached the final for the third time.

Medvedev has already won two ATP titles this year. In the first week of the new year, he came out on top in Brisbane. Last month, he won the prestigious Dubai tournament for the second time. This brought his total to 23 tournament victories.

Thanks to his good form, he has returned to the top 10. The former world number 1 (2022) won the US Open in 2021.

On the grass courts of the Libéma Open, Medvedev reached the final in 2022. Tim van Rijthoven beat him then, but thanks to his finalist spot, he became world number 1 the following day.

Medvedev is coached by Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke. The latter was the coach during the heyday of two-time Libéma Open champion and Wimbledon winner Richard Krajicek.

The Libéma Open is a combined WTA/ATP tournament and will be held from Saturday, June 6 through Sunday, June 14 on the grass courts of Autotron ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Belgians Zizou Bergs and Elise Mertens have also confirmed their participation.

Bergs reached the ATP final last year, while Mertens won the WTA tournament.
