Miraculous escape for Vandeweghe

CoCo Vandeweghe has narrowly reached the semi-finals at the Libéma Open. The American survived no less than seven match points in the tiebreak of the third set, before she finally won against compatriot Alison Riske, 7-6(6) 3-6 7-6(12).

Vandeweghe has made another step towards a possible third title in Rosmalen. She lifted the trophy in 2014 and 2016.

The world’s number 16 will meet Aleksandra Krunic in the semi-finals. The Serbian is seventh seed on the Brabant grass and reached the final four by defeating qualifier Veonika Kudermetova, 6-2 6-2.
