Wildcards for Rus and Griekspoor
03/06/18, 11:21Arantxa Rus and Tallon Griekspoor have received a wildcard for the main event of the Libéma Open.
Currently Rus takes 106th position on the world ranking and reached the main schedule at Roland Garras through the qualification tournament. Sloane Stephens was too strong for her in the first round. After an absence of five years at Grand Slam level the 27-year-old player from Monster will play at Wimbledon.
21-year-old Griekspoor made his debut in Rosmalen last year. Vasek Pospisil, who is good on grass, was then too strong for the player from Nieuw-Vennep. Holland’s number two player takes 229th position on the world rankings.
Qualifications
The wildcards for the qualification tournament went to Lesley Kerkhove, Rosalie van der Hoek, Kelly Versteeg and Urszula Radwanska. The sister of world class player Agnieszka Radwanska is on her way back after a long period of injuries and previously took 29th position the world rankings. The young Russian Anna Kalinskaya receives a wildcard for the main tournament. Bernard Tomic also enters the qualifications with a wildcard. The former world number 17 once reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
Doubles
Richel Hogenkamp and Bibiane Schoofs received a wildcard for the main doubles tournament. They will try to reach the main singles tournament through the qualifications.
Previously it was announced that Lleyton Hewitt will play in the doubles tournament together with his compatriot Alex Bolt.
