Bertens defeated by Kerber at Roland Garros

Kiki Bertens has been eliminated by the former world’s number one Angelique Kerber in the third round at Roland Garras: 7-6(4) 7-6(4).

Holland’s number one didn’t have a good day in her match against the German twofold Grand Slam winner, currently the number 12 of the world. The player from Wateringen, who reached the semi-final in Paris in 2016, had no less than 52 unnecessary faults.

Kerber will take on home player Caroline Garcia in the fourth round. The world’s number seven easily defeated Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu: 6-1 6-3.

However, Belgium’s number one, Elise Mertens, managed to reach the last 16 by defeating Australia’s Daria Gavrilova with 6-3 6-1. Her next opponent will be the world’s number one and two-time Roland Garros finalist Simona Halep.
