Bertens continues string of victories in Nürnberg

Kiki Bertens convincingly reached the second round of the WTA tournament in Nürnberg. The player from Wateringen was too strong for qualifier Dejana Radanovic with 6-1 6-1.

Bertens is seeded third at the gravel tournament in Germany. The world’s number 18 easily defeated the Serbian number 293 of the world. Bertens used her match point after playing exactly 1  hour.

In the previous two years the 26-year-old Bertens won the tournament, in 2016 through the qualification tournament. Currently she has won 13 matches in a row in Nürnberg.

To reach the quarter-final stage the Dutch number one will have to defeat Mona Barthel or Carina Witthoeft. The German players will continue their match on Tuesday. On Monday the first set was won by Barthel with 7-5 , but the match had to be postponed.
