Rus reaches quarter finals

Arantxa Rus has reached the quarter finals at the Ricoh Open for the first time in her career. The wildcard player defeated the Czech player Andrea Hlavackova with 6- 7-5 in the second round.

Hlavackova struggled with a leg injury in the first set on this warm day in Rosmalen, but the qualifier was able to continue the match against the home player. It was Rus’s first time in four years to reach a second round at WTA-level.

To get another step further in the tournament the 26-year-old left-hander has to beat Russian talent Natalia Vikhlyantseva. The 20-year-old number 74 of the world ranking defeated former top 10 player Andrea Petkovic.
