Cilic passes the test in opening match

Topseed Marin Cilic fought himself to the quarter finals at the Ricoh Open. The world´s number seven managed to come back after a one set disadvantage and turned the match into a victory. Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia was the victim after a ball over the net on matchpoint: 6-7(6) 6-2 6-4.

It is Cilic´s first performance in Rosmalen since 2006 and chose the Brabant grass to start the grass season this year.

To reach the semi finals the 2014 US Open champion has to defeat Vasek Pospisil. The Canadian qualifier saw Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov withdraw at 7-6(2) 4-2.

Karrlovic

Ivo Karlovic is another Croatian who qualified for the quarter finals. The third seed blew away the 19-year-old wildcard player Stefan Kozlov with 6-4 6-1 and will again play again a nextgen player in the quarter final.

The 21-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev dealt with his peer Thanasi Kokkinakis from Australia: 6-3 7-6(3). He is the next player who will have to take on the service power of Karlovic.
