Cibulkova stopped by young talent

Topseed Dominika Cibulkova (WTA-6) was surprisingly defeated in her first match at the Ricoh Open by the young German Antonia Lottner (WTA-161). The 20-year-old qualifier won the epic duel on the centre court with 7-5 2-6 6-4.

Lottner will continue her campaign on the Brabant grass against the Russian Evgeniya Rodina (WTA-80), who defeated the Japanese qualifier Miyu Kato (WTA-186) with 6-1 6-1.

Former tournament winner Camila Giorgi (WTA-105) was also forced to leave. The 25-year-old Italian was not strong enough to beat the German Carina Witthoeft (WTA-66): 7-6(5) 6-3.

Witthoeft will compete against Estonian talent Anett Kontaveit (WTA-49) or Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-75) from Belgium in the quarter finals.
