Hogenkamp starts Rosmalen with victory

Richel Hogenkamp has reached the second round at the Ricoh Open. The new world number 100 recorded a strong victory against the Luxemburg player Mandy Minella (WTA-82): 6-3 6-3.

The duel marked Hogenkamp’s very first match as a member of the world’s top 100, a position which she gained after a successful campaign at Roland Garros where she reached the second round.

Hogenkamp is one of the three home players in the master event schedule at the Autotron. Kiki Bertens and Arantxa Rus are also playing in the singles tournament.

Hogenkamp will meet fifth seed Ana Konjuy (WTA-33) in her second match, but the 19-year-old talent from Croatia must first defeat the German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch (WTA-125).
