Krunic a size too big for Schoofs
13/06/18, 14:45Aleksandra Krunic has reached the quarter-finals of the Libéma Open. The Serbian, seventh seed in Rosmalen, defeated the Dutch wildcard player Bibiane Schoofs on centre court, 7-5 6-2.
Thirty-year-old Schoofs made her debut in Rosmalen this week and it was her first performance at WTA level since 2011. This big gap was a result of a long period of injuries and private matters.
Last year 25-year-old Krunic ran aground in the second round on the Brabant grass. This year she will play in the quarter-finals against Belinda Bencic or Veronika Kudermetova. The Russian qualifier defeated title defender Anett Kontaveit in the first round.
