Verdasco en Khachanov eliminated in fourth round

Fernando Verdasco and Karen Khachanov were eliminated in the fourth round at Roland Garros.
Novak Djokovic defeated 30th seed Verdasco with 6-3 6-4 6-2. Previously the Spaniard had a nice straight sets win against Grigor Dimitrov in the third round, but he had no chance against Djokovic. It was the 2016 champion’s 200th win on gravel.
It will also be the 40th quarter-final at Grand Slam level for the Serbian player. The former number one of the world, will meet Marco Cecchinato in the quarter-finals. The Italian defeated David Goffin with 7-5 4-6 6-0 6-3.
Karen Kachanov went down in five sets against Alexander Zverev. The second seed came back from one set disadvantage and won with 4-6 7-6(4) 2-6 6-3 6-3. It was the third five set victory in a row for the 21-year-old German.
Zverev will meet Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals. The Austrian defeated Kei Nishikori with 6-2 6-0 5-7 6-4.
