Young talent keeps Rus out of semi final

A great week has come to an end for Arantxa Rus in the quarter finals of the Ricoh Open. The young Natalia Vikhlyantseva (WTA-74) was too strong for the home player with 6-3 6-2.

The 20-year-old Russian is a big hitter and was one size too big for Rus, who played in the master event with a wildcard. She did not disappoint.

Ana Konjuh (WTA-33) will be the next opponent for Vikhlyantseva. The fifth seed defeated Evgeniya Rodina (WTA-80) in a thrilling match: 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(10). The Croatian managed to resist five matchpoints in third set tiebreak.
