Ferrer replaces overtired Goffin in Rosmalen

A change in the participants at the Ricoh Open. David Goffin’s smashing first half of the season has taken its toll. The Belgian, who played his first Grand Slam quarter-final at Roland Garros, is overtired and had to withdraw from the ATP 250 tournament in Rosmalen.

The world number 13’s place will be taken by world number three David Ferrer, a big name and two-time winner on the Brabant grass court (2008 and 2012).

The illustrious Spaniard has been a permanent member of the global top 10 over the last decade and is still, 34-years-old, playing at the highest level.

Ferrer is one on the best players of his generation with 26 tournament wins, 25 finals (Roland Garros 2013) and nearly 30 million euros in prize money won.

The last time this ‘walking tennis brick wall’ played at the Autotron was in 2013.
