With Ricoh as new title sponsor the tournament enters a new phase. “In the past few years we have brought several innovations in our tournament, both before and behind the scene. Ricoh as one of the big sponsors was involved in this too. With this new cooperation we build on further growth and innovation together with a fantastic partner that has shown a commitment to the tennis sport for many years through their cooperation with the ATP World Tour and the Dutch tennis association KNLTB,” says tournament director Marcel Hunze.

Mark Boekhouwer, CEO of Ricoh Nederland says, “For us, it is great to be able to support this unique tournament in our own backyard and to attach our name to it. Unique because of the setting, the open character, the field of players and its attraction to business circles and sports fans. A platform that we like to expand in an innovative way in the coming years, of course together with other partners, in order to as an ecosystem add value to the sport and all parties concerned. In a rapidly changing world in which work and leisure are connected, we have the ambition to realize at the tournament the biggest open workplace of the Netherlands and to be during this week in June THE working environment of the Netherlands. To be able to enjoy top tennis within the ‘distance of a serve’. An environment where working and living meet and where we can integrate the products and services with which we support our clients in the way in which they are working on a daily basis.”

Sjeng Schalken, the tournament’s ambassador, says, “Since the 2015 edition the tournament was put on the worldwide ATP and WTA tennis calendar one week earlier, so the Netherlands enjoy the privilege to open the grass tennis season. The more favourable timing will show on various fronts, and possibly also on the number of participants. Ricoh’s involvement is great news for the tournament and the tennis sport in the Netherlands.”

Ricoh Open, taking place at the Autotron in Rosmalen, was recently called Unicef Open and Topshelf Open. In 2015 Nicolas Mahut (men) and Camila Giorgi (women) won the tournament. The 2016 tournament will take place from 6 until 12 June. More information about the participants will be given shortly.
