Shoulder injury keeps Dimitrov of the court

Grigor Dimitrov has withdrawn his participation in Rosmalen. The Bulgarian suffers too much from a shoulder injury. Lorenzo Sonego will take his place.

The 28 year old Dimitrov played three heavy matches during Roland Garros. He proved too strong in five sets for Janko Tipsarevic in the first round  in the French capital. The defeated Marin Cilic in a 4,5 hour match in the next round. This match also counted five sets. Stan Wawrinka narrowly beat Dimitrov in the third round in three thrilling tiebreaks.

Sonego will take the Bulgarian place in the main schedule of the ATP 250 tournament. The 24 year old Italian is having a excellent season so far with a place in the quarter-finals at the Masters 1000 tournament of Monte Carlo. Sonego recently climbed to 74th position in the rankings.

 

Further withdrawals
Damir Dzumhur has also withdrawn with a shoulder injury. He will be replaced by Nicolas Jarry. The 23 year old Chilean is the number 58 of the world rankings.

Jelena Ostapenko, Belinda Bencic and Andrea Petkovic had to withdraw from the women’s tournament. Ostapenko has some problems with her left wrist. Her place will be taken by Johanna Larsson. Bencic is suffering of back problems and will be replaced by Kristyna Pliskova. Germany’s Mona Barthel will replace compatriot Petkovic.
