Haase\u2019s play in the first two sets was very solid and concentrated. The world\u2019s number 44 had a response at nearly every hit by Goffin and it appeared that Haase was going to pull off a big stunt.<\/p>
Goffin held on to an early break in the third set and won with 6-4. Goffin, stoical as ever, won the fourth set with 6-1 Haase was complaining about the light and then he asked for a physiotherapist. His hip and groin were examined but treatment was not necessary.<\/p>
Haase gave up his resistance in the deciding set after he had lost his service game. The set only lasted 18 minutes: 6-0<\/p>
Goffijn will play against home player Corentin Moutet in the second round. The world\u2019s number 143 defeated Ivo Karlovic in straight sets.<\/p>
