The American first fought his way through the qualification tournament and then dealt with Robin Haase with 6-3 6-2. The Dutchman was directly admitted to the main tournament with a wildcard.<\/p><p>In his heyday, the 34-year-old Querrey was 11th on the world rankings. In 2017 he made it to the last four at Wimbledon.<\/p><p>In the second round he will take on his compatriot Brandon Nakashima. The young American defeated another countryman, Tommy Paul, in three tiebreaks.<\/p><p>After three hours and five minutes the final score of 6-7(4) 7-6(5) 7-6(2) was in his favour.<\/p><p>Karen Khachanov also reached the second round. The number five of the ranking was too strong for Alejandro Tabilo with 6-3 6-3.
