The men’s tournament at the Lib\u00e9ma Open 2022 has received a balanced draw. Two Dutchmen ended up in the top half of the draw and three in the bottom of the strong field. Which world class players will they face?<\/p>
Botic van de Zandschulp, sixth seed, has ended up in the section of first seed Daniil Medvedev. The number two of the world has a bye in the first round and could face the Dutchman in the quarterfinals. The 26-year-old from Veenendaal will first have to get past Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori and then his doubles partner Mackenzie McDonald or Ilya Ivashka.<\/p>
The seeded players Alex De Minaur (4) and Tommy Paul (7) are possible opponents of Medvedev or Van de Zandschulp in the semifinals. Paul, provided he beats compatriot Brandon Nakashima, could face Robin Haase in round two. The experienced home player enters via a wildcard and opens against a qualifier.<\/p>
Tallon Griekspoor could already encounter the Canadian top player Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round. The number two of the rankings is already assured of a spot in the second round via a bye, while the Haarlem native first faces Aljaz Bedene from Slovenia.<\/p>
American Jenson Brooksby is the eighth seed and, on his debut in Rosmalen, will face wildcard player Jesper de Jong. The winner will take on the strongest in the match between French dropshot king Hugo Gaston and Korean Soonwoo Kwon.<\/p>
Tim van Rijthoven, the third Dutchman with a wildcard, is also at the bottom of the schedule. He starts against a qualifier and if he wins, he will play Taylor Fritz. The American, who won the big tournament of Indian Wells earlier this year by beating Rafael Nadal in the final, has a bye in the first round as third seed.<\/p>
Winner of the last edition in 2019 Adrian Mannarino will have to wait a while before his opponent is known. The Frenchman takes on a qualifier and in case of a win, Alex de Minaur is his next opponent.<\/p>
Karen Khachanov, seeded fifth, starts his campaign against Argentine Alejandro Tabilo and is on a collision course with Auger-Aliassime or Tallon Griekspoor in a possible quarterfinal.<\/p>
