The 34-year-old Frenchman beat Gilles Muller (ATP-44) 6-4, 6-4 in <\/span>a remarkable final.<\/p><p><span class=\"im\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The match was interrupted on Sunday <\/span><\/span>\u200bby rain\u00a0after the eighth seed and wildcard Mahut\u00a0had won the\u00a0first set.\u00a0Persistent bad weather, however, forced postponement of the final\u200b&#8217;s completion to\u200b Monday for the first time in the long history of the tournament.<\/p><p><span class=\"im\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">On both days Mahut was too strong for his opponent, who is one year younger. Both players played <\/span><\/span>\u200baggressively as usual but \u200bin <span class=\"im\">the end it was the<\/span>\u200b defending\u200b <span class=\"im\">champion who played more carefully and held the trophy in front of a few dozen spectators. <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"im\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The only break in the remaining match was registered in the third game of the second set, when Mahut capitalized <\/span><\/span>on \u200bthe break point. On Sunday Muller was not able to \u200bmaintain his <span class=\"im\">3-1 advantage in the first set. <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"im\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Left-handed seventh seed Muller has now played <\/span><\/span>\u200bin four finals and has yet \u200bto win\u200b a title. Mahut has won three of his career\u2019s four titles in Rosmalen.
