Roland Garros: Haase meets Goffin in first round

Robin Haase will play against David Goffin in the opening round of Roland Garros. The player from The Hague and the world’s number 9 met five times before. The Belgian player won 4 out of the five matches.

They last played against each other in May at the 1000 Tournament in Madrid. Goffin, seeded eighth at Roland Garros, won in two sets. Last year Haase defeated Goffin at the gravel tournament in Gstaad, the only time he beat the player from Rocourt.

Libéma Open competitors Richard Gasquet and Fernando Verdasco will meet Andreas Seppi and Yoshihito Nishioka respectively in the first round of the second Grand Slam tournament of the year.

France’s Gasquet is seeded 27^th at his home tournament and is leading the previous meetings againstthe 34-year-old Italian with 6-1. Verdasco will have to do some homework before the start of the match. The world’s number 35 and his Japanese opponent, who is ranked over 200 places lower on the rankings, have never played each other before.

Gilles Muller does not know who he will play against in the first round. The 2017 Libéma Open winner, who is 29^th seed, will have to play against a qualifier.
